Arcus bows are made by hand in Germany with meticulous attention to detail under the direction of Bernd Musing who has been designing and making these famous bows since the late 1990s.
Production of the bows moved to Germany because this is where Bernd lives, and where sales and customer support are based. This was also the time when Andreas who was a co-developer of the bows
left Arcus.
In 2009 Arcus renamed their bows by giving them a letter and number instead of the traditional names.
This is to give a better indication of where each bow resides in the Arcus range. We have been looking after these bows for the past 10 years and have seen improvements
generated by feedback received from musicians year on year. We are confident that you will be delighted with the way that they play, and the craftsmanship with which each bow is made.
All Arcus bows are classified by resonance. The higher the number, the better the resonance of the stick.

Arcus bass Concerto
The Concerto bows tend to be chosen by professional orchestral and chamber players. These players need a bow that is comfortable and responsive, with excellent tonal qualities. The Concerto bows are silver mounted with a snakewood frog and silver winding.

Arcus bass Sinfonia
The Sinfonia bow, like the Concerto bow, is also used by professional orchestral and chamber players. It has also been chosen by many professional fiddlers. The Sinfonias have a full and projecting sound and are responsive, agile, and comfortable to play with. They are silver mounted with an ebony frog and a silver and black winding.

Arcus bass Veloce
The Veloce bow has a warm round sound. It is a little heavier at approx 125 gms for the French model, and 130 gms for the German model than the professional line of Arcus bows, with a weight midway between an Arcus professional bow and a traditional wood bow. The Veloce bows have nickel silver mountings and a piratinera frog.
