Arcus bows are made by hand in Germany with meticulous attention to detail under the direction of Bernd Musing who has been designing and making these famous bows since the late 1990s.
Production of the bows moved to Germany because this is where Bernd lives, and where sales and customer support are based. This was also the time when Andreas who was a co-developer of the bows
left Arcus.
In 2009 Arcus renamed their bows by giving them a letter and number instead of the traditional names.
This is to give a better indication of where each bow resides in the Arcus range. We have been looking after these bows for the past 10 years and have seen improvements
generated by feedback received from musicians year on year. We are confident that you will be delighted with the way that they play, and the craftsmanship with which each bow is made.

Arcus make several different bow models for each instrument. Each carbon fibre bow stick is tested and then
categorised into one of the models based on its resonance characteristics.

The Arcus website has more information about the technology and design behind Arcus bows, together with
more feedback from some of the many professional and amateur players who use an Arcus.
No player is ever paid to endorse Arcus or to give feedback.
Arcus design and make carbon fibre bows that not only give exceptional comfort and purity of sound, but also avoid hand and arm fatigue and pain.
Arcus found that most traditional bows had the same base resonance as the human hand and arm and these low non-musical vibrations were responsible for, at best tiredessness in the bowing arm, and at worst inflammation over time. Arcus designed their bows to eliminate these non-musical vibrations. Many players report a more relaxed playing style and the ability to play comfortably for longer with an Arcus bow.
All Arcus bows are made by hand in Germany.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to have the correct amount of hair used on your bow as this changes the playing characteristics.
When you have your Arcus bow rehaired, please make sure that your rehairer follows the Arcus rehair guidelines which can be found on the Arcus website.
The Arcus hair gauge will ensure you have exactly the right amount of hair on your Arcus bow. £ 35.00 RRP inc VAT at 17.5%
Because Arcus bows are a little different from traditional wood bows, we strongly suggest that to help you get the most from your bow you read the the following Hints and Tips for Use
